About Vanillaknit
Born from a deeply personal journey
Five years ago, after the premature birth of my second daughter, I found myself spending endless hours in the hospital, where my tiny baby was gently wrapped in hand-knitted wool blankets and socks. I watched as these simple woolen items provided her with warmth, comfort, and calm, leading me to a powerful realization—the remarkable impact of wool on newborns.
Research supports what I witnessed firsthand: underweight babies gain 61% more weight when they sleep in woolen bedding compared to cotton. The International Wool Textile Organization (IWTO) states that wool not only keeps babies warm but also helps regulate their body temperature, promoting healthier growth and development.
As my daughter grew stronger and we finally came home, the memories of the hospital and the little ones we met there stayed with me.
This experience sparked an idea—why not to give back by creating these comforting woolen items myself? Having learned to knit at a young age, thanks to my mother, I picked up the knitting needles with a renewed purpose.
This passion evolved into Vanillaknit—a brand dedicated to crafting beautiful, hand-knitted baby blankets, socks, sweaters, bags, and more. Each piece is made with love and care, extending beyond just a business to a mission of warmth and well-being.
We are proud to donate some of our blankets to hospitals for newborns and contribute 8% of every sale to the “Ankstukai” foundation, supporting premature babies.
Knitting, for me, is more than a craft; it’s a source of inspiration, meditation, and a way to spread warmth to those who need it most.
At Vanillaknit, we aim to share this joy through our lovingly handmade items, each carrying a story of care and compassion.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and for helping us bring warmth, comfort, and love to the little ones who need it the most.
